The Karankawa Indians are extinct, and have been for a while.  The name Karankawa has been known to mean dog-lovers, or dog-raisers.  The Karankawa tribe traveled in canoes a lot.  Their canoes were made out of a hollow tree trunk.  These canoes can carry a whole family plus their personal items.  The Karankawa Indians spoke a language called Karankawa, and so did a few other tribes.  Today only about 100 words of that language still exist.  BELOW ARE A FEW OF THEM.  The Karankawa Indians settled in new places mainly to find food.
